6 DAY ALBURY TOUR - WHERE THE MOUNTAINS MEET THE MURRAY
Where:

Situated on the border of New South Wales and Victoria, Albury is a town rich in history, offering visitors the opportunity to step back in time.

Nestled amongst mountains and valleys that provide tranquillity, excitement and adventure Albury joins its Victorian neighbour Wodonga to form the twin town of Albury-Wodonga along Australia's largest river, the Murray. Albury offers an amazement of highlights including a trip back to Australia's gold digging and bushranging days.

DAY 1

Sydney to Albury

Upon arriving in Albury we check in into the delightful and luxurious Albury Manor House where we will be staying for the entire duration.

DAY 2

Tallangatta, Kiewa Valley, Mount Beauty, Tawonga Gap

Following a hearty breakfast we board the coach for an exciting day of sight seeing that demands you bring your camera along. Our first stop will be at Hume Wier and Lake Hume where we will travel across one of the longest bridges in Australia. We then continue on through Belbridge, Bethanga and Tallangatta passing through the small towns of Jarvis Creek and Old Tallangatta before joining the Kiewa Valley Highway.

Morning tea will be at Tallangatta, the town that moved, followed by a drive through Kiewa Valley to Mount Beauty where we will stop for lunch and have a wander around the shops. After lunch we travel up over Tawonga Gap where we perch ourselves on top of the mountain for photos of the Bogong High Country. Then it is into Bright where we will have the opportunity to appreciate a series of local craft and gift shops. We then travel back through Myrtleford, the tobacco capital of Australia before making our way back to Albury.

DAY 3

Today we take a step back in time as we make our first stop at the historical town of Glenrowan, famous for the downfall of Ned Kelly. Following our morning tea break we will travel through the towns of Oxley and Milawa where some of Australia’s famous wineries including Brown Bros, exist.

Then we make our way to the old gold mining town of Beechworth where we will enjoy a town tour. There will be plenty of time to browse around the shops and enjoy some lunch, perhaps at the well known Beechworth Bakery. After lunch we travel to Yackadandah followed by a visit to the Bandiana Army Museum in Wodonga. Dinner tonight will be enjoyed at the Westminster Restaurant back in Albury.

DAY 4

Corowra, Paradise Queen cruise, Rutherglen Winery Region

This morning we leave for Corowa, the birth place of the Federation. We visit the Federation Museum and after morning tea head to Yarrawanga. Here we enjoy a cruise on Lake Mulwala aboard the Paradise Queen with informative commentary and a delicious barbecue lunch.

After lunch we head to the Rutherglen Winery Region where we visit the famous All Saints Estate. Yes of course you will get the opportunity to sample a selection of wines and vintages of your choice. Time permitting we may stop at other wineries such as Campbells, Fairfield and Gehrig.

DAY 5

Albury

Today is set aside as an easy day. After a sleep in and a late breakfast we board our coach for a tour of Albury, taking in as many sights as possible. This afternoon offers free time for you to explore on your own.

DAY 6

Albury to Sydney

Alas! Our last day in Albury. After breakfast we farewell our hosts at the Manor House and head home to Sydney.

Inclusions: Coach touring, 5 nts luxury accommodation, cooked breakfast, morning tea and evening meals daily, 1 picnic lunch, honorary membership at Albury Sailors & Airmen’s Club.
